Back by Unpopular Demand: Metaphors Aside!
They say…
I am not microwaveable.
I am a disposible coffee cup!
They warn… I am hot and spill-able.
I am just a coffee cup!
My contents wake you up and feed your addiction.
I am a sad coffee cup!
When you’ve had your fill of me, you toss me like trash!
I am now a useless and pitiful coffee cup!
Soon, I will no longer be a coffee cup!
I will be a disposed coffee cup!
Well, they recycle cups anyway!
Unlike most paper items, paper cups can’t be recycled because they’re actually coated in plastic-as little as five percent per cup. That’s why they’re able to hold liquid without leaking all over the place. While some communities do recycle materials like paper coffee cups, they’re very rare. And only getting rarer.

Hey! Maybe I should be coated in plastic. I leak all over the place!
But Anna did ask:
Is this a metaphor? Is it you who feels disposable? Or am I reading too much into this?
Well! Thanks for your concern!

To be fair, as long as recycling does its job, the coffee cup will be recycled into new coffee cups, just like the rest of us 😄.

Of course 🤦♂️. Good to know. And here all our recycling is shipped off to China where it’s not recycled because it’s too low quality 🤦♂️.
So yeah, disposable cups sure do lead sad lives all around!

The paper cups live to serve and then die! Just like we all do, all in our unique ways of expression for infinity

This reminds me of that runaway bestseller from a couple years back; “Confessions of a Teenage Mutant Ninja Coffee Cup; Songs from an American Landfill.”
Great book.

I feel the disposable cup’s sentiments . People too feel that way, used and abused , & when no longer needed , tossed & forgotten. But a coffee cup is a fighter and a dreamer, when no one expects it, it will stand strong and beautiful anew.

Poor coffee cup. Left without a future, with only a forgotten past. Well written and illustrated.
