On Unfirm Barracks Terra Firma!

Dateline January 12, 1963; approximately 7 am; Lackland AFB, Texas; Basic Military Training.

My first sergeant yells …

Jump!!!

So, naturally I jump. Then he screams …

Did I order you to come down!!!???

πŸ™ˆ…πŸ™‰…πŸ™Š

Sir! No! Sir! …… Sir!

************

Barrack B, 2 am in the morning ……

The same first sergeant returns to the barracks, apparently ‘drunk as a skunk,’ and starts screaming …

Get up you sissy-assed fools! Everything out of the barracks! Two minutes or else!!’

And I mean everything … NOW!!!

So all us frightened, blurry-eyed future airmen do as as ordered. About 24 terrified trainees in a panic carrying and dragging beds, mattresses, personal belongings: in our underwear up and down the barracks stairs.

Oh, the pandemonium! Oh, the total destructive mess!

Then after the barracks was stripped naked he screams …

Everything back in the barracks now! Two minutes! And it damn well be in inspection order. Do you hear me!!!

No way, by the way!

************

Well! That first sergeant was never seen again for some unknown reason that escapes me!

But four years later I was commissioned an “Officer and Gentleman” and 10 years later was assigned to the Pentagon, USAF Operation Center.

And my God, that looney first sergeant was now also an officer and was assigned to the Joint Chiefs of Staff

Or was it the Joint Chiefs of Daffy Staff!?

************

If you believe this complete story, well, you should also be commissioned an officer or at least committed to a mental hospital all laced up in a dandy straight jacket!

Well! Actually it was true as ‘true can be’ up until all the Pentagon tomfoolery!

But what really happened to that typical USAF first sergeant?

The rumor is he eventually got into politics and ran for Congress.

He won hands down!

LOL!

WHO SAID YOU COULD STOP LAUGHING!!!
