Watch what you eat!
Exercise!
Drink water not cokes!
Mediterranean diet!
Eat more nuts!
Cut out processed foods
No more burgers and fries!
Keep it stupid! Simple?
This is definitely overkill!

I wonder about the role of interoception in all of these various healthy living habits and why some people follow them more easily than others. I first heard about the sense of interoception through learning that people with autism usually have a less strong sense of their internal states. For me personally it seems I have a stronger than usual sense of it, so all of these things come easily because I can directly feel the effect of eating various food types, and the effects of lacking any of them. Exercise has always been effortless, but that’s partially down to a dopamine shortage too.

My habits haven’t necessarily been constant and have been a work in progress over time too, but have never strayed far from the ‘ideal’. Also I think the longer you are used to healthy habits, the easier it becomes to realise the benefits of them?
I think my strong sense of interoception is a big factor in why I seem to be good at self-diagnosing!
