      1. And remember this, cats are cute as long as your not a mouse, bird, kitten unprotected by a female cat, or any small animal including man himself if he were to shrink small enough.

I like cats. But they may be responsible for the extinction of about 64 species and counting.

      1. No doubt about it. I get glimpses of the cover in my head, I see the main character, a honey badger with a mountain in the background. I will get the title of book soon, I can feel it.

      2. Found it, it’s titled, Salamandastron, by Brian Jacques, and the main villain in it is not a ferret, but a weasel, but I was close. They’re in the same family😁

      3. Yes! The history of the ferret’s domestication is uncertain, like that of most other domestic animals, but it is likely that they have been domesticated for at least 2,500 years. They are still used for hunting rabbits in some parts of the world, but increasingly they are kept only as pets.

Being so closely related to polecats, ferrets easily hybridize with them, and this has occasionally resulted in feral colonies of polecat–ferret hybrids that have caused damage to native fauna, especially in New Zealand. As a result, New Zealand and some other parts of the world have imposed restrictions on the keeping of ferrets.

Too much ado about ferrets and polecats!?

      4. Very interesting how intricate the inner gears of ecosystems are all over the world, and all mounting up to one big self regulating system. How wonderful!
